Chris Cancialosi, co-founder of gothamCULTURE, is a recognized expert in the field of leader and organizational development with particular focus on the leader’s role in shaping high-performing culture. Chris’ work with senior leaders in a variety of industries and sectors has solidified his place as an authority in large-scale organizational transformation initiatives aimed at creating and sustaining effective change. An experienced consultant with a renowned reputation for providing critical insights and engaging, customized solutions, Chris has worked with executive teams around the world. Chris effectively combines his operational field experience with his knowledge of organizational psychology to provide unique and practical solutions to today’s ever changing environment.

Working with clients such as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, OppenheimerFunds, JetBlue Airways, Nando’s South Africa, and New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Chris has leveraged the concepts of human behavior to enhance business performance while improving people’s lives through association and collaboration. Knowing that an organization’s success hinges on its people, Chris finds distinct ways to engage groups in ways that yield bottom-line success. Some of Chris’ specific experience includes:

—Working with thousands of leaders at all levels to increase their professional effectiveness through executive coaching, utilizing intense self-reflection, and leveraging tools such as multi-rater (360-degree) assessment tools
—Facilitating culture change initiatives Fortune 500 companies by working with leaders in understanding the impact of culture on performance
—Designing and executing large-scale organizational transformation initiatives around the world resulting in multi-million dollar savings in a variety of fast-paced, operational settings
—Designing and facilitating team development processes in a variety of settings to improve team performance through intense and unique experiences and dialogue —Developing and facilitating cutting-edge, experiential, leadership development opportunities, including the development of succession planning and talent development processes

Prior to co-founding gothamCULTURE, Chris held leadership positions in both internal and external consulting roles including, JetBlue Airways and Human Performance Systems, where he focused on leader development, organizational culture, and performance improvement. Chris also served as an officer in the US Army spending two years leading troops in combat operations in Iraq. Performing in leadership roles as a battalion operations officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot, Chris has a unique perspective about operations and people that he brings to his current client work and research.

Chris serves on the adjunct faculty of the Department of Psychology at Montclair State University, in New Jersey, where he supports the state’s first program minor in leadership studies. He also volunteers with the university’s graduate program by serving as a mentor and advisor to graduate students completing internships and research for their degrees. His volunteer work in New York City includes consulting work with non-profits such as the Lark Play Development Center as well as volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York. Chris’ strong belief in service to the community and his commitment to bettering the human experience led him to his current passion of working with high-potential leaders as they prepare for success in positions of greater responsibility with a specific focus on transformational leadership and social responsibility.

Chris regularly presents at professional conferences and workshops. His research and writing interests center on culture, leadership, and creating community in the workplace, which includes a variety of publications and technical reports. Chris holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware, a MA degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Montclair State University and is currently completing his PhD in Organizational Psychology.
